I don’ think there is any time limit. By the time you get results of first sem, second sem would already be started. Assuming that you get required CGPA in first sem, you can apply for conversion during second sem. So, you would be in PGSSP for minimum 2 semesters. And, I have seen people who were still in PGSSP even after 5 semesters (must be because of low CGPA).

Again, there is no time limit. Even after conversion, it you continue to take only 2 subjects per semester, then it would another 3 to 3.5 years. But, if you take 3 or 4 subjects per sem, then you can finish it quickly. In any case, you should complete 68 credits to get M.Tech. degree (same as any other regular student). Also, If you can get approval from any professor to do project under his guidance, then it will get you 16 to 20 credits (equivalent to 4/5 subjects)

Not very sure about this. They might mark it as part-time but I think it will equal importance as full-time.

Yes. Based on the subjects that you select and time table for that semester, the class timings might conflict with your work hours. So, you would need to check with your manager if its ok or not before joining this program.

In my case, it was not an issue

Hello Kishore,

For PGSSP if the classes are in week days with regular students then one need to come to college in between working hours of the company… is it allowed by the company? How did u use to manage it? Generally for part time programs classes are on weekend or after working hours ..but is this kind of schedule acceptable to the IT companies with which student is working?

Each subject will have two classes per week. So, for two subjects you will have 4 classes. Each class would be of 1.5 hrs duration. Some of these subjects would have weekly tutorials (kind of lab/practical sessions, which might be 1 to 1.5 hrs each).

It depends on your selected subjects and time table. They can be anytime during the week (Mon-Sat) as you would need to attend classes along with regular students. Classes would be between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Tutorials would be after these class timings.

For both the subjects, classes are going to be on the same day?

I heard that there will be 6 hours of classes per week.

As far as I know, it will still be part-time but you will be allowed to take more than 2 subjects/ 8 credits for each semester.

Kishore ,who happens to be my distant colleague,is a real genius.You are the real genius .. you wud not just surpass the threshold of 7 CGPA but also surprise your proff who would be taken aback to see how a person could retain his intelligence despite slogging hard in IT industry for 4 yrs !
